SustainabilityDaibiru’s sustainability management
Since its establishment in 1923, the Company has focused on building constructions which emphasize coexistence with nature such as rooftop greenery, reduction of the environmental impact by existing buildings, and coexistence with the local community. We will continue to promote initiatives for sustainability and to contribute to achieving a sustainable society through its business activities.
Management structure
Environment & Sustainability Committee
In 2021, the CSR and Environmental Committee was reorganized to form the Environment & Sustainability Committee. This organizational body operates under the Executive Committee and is dedicated to actively promoting measures on a Groupwide basis that help to resolve environmental and social issues and contribute to the Group’s sustainable growth. Implementing initiatives aimed at sustainability is one of our most important missions. These ideas are stated om both the Group Code of Conduct and the Group Environmental Policy, and we will continue to promote these initiatives.
Furthermore, the Group is well aware that respecting human rights is a social responsibility that must be fulfilled by companies, and we comply with the MOL Group Human Rights Policy, a statement of principles that serves as the basis of all business activities for the MOL Group.

Joining the UN Global Compact and contributing to the SDGs
In addition to joining the UN Global Compact in 2010, the Company is deeply aware of the demands of society as represented by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Joining the UN Global Compact
The UN Global Compact, declared in January 1999 by the former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and established in 2000 at the UN Headquarters in New York, is an initiative that calls on companies to voluntarily support and practice in their corporate activities ten universally accepted principles in the four areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. Recognizing that the "Group Code of Conduct" and these ten principles share a common philosophy, we will pursue our sustainability initiatives even more vigorously through participation in the "UN Global Compact."
Contribution to the SDGs
The SDGs are international objectives to be achieved by the year 2030 which were adopted by the UN in 2015. They comprise 17 goals and 169 targets, encompassing the eradication of poverty, protection of the environment, and promotion of equality among other areas. We will actively contribute to initiatives to achieve the goals set out in the SDGs through the resolution of societal challenges as part of the Daibiru Group's business activities.
The Daibiru Group's materiality
To grow alongside society and assess the range of issues it faces from a business perspective, the Daibiru Group identified material issues in the short, medium, and long term that are either business opportunities or risks, which constitute the Daibiru Group's materiality in 2021. Group materiality comprises two categories: (Ⅰ) providing value to society (or reducing damage to social capital) and (Ⅱ) strengthening the foundation for providing value. The three materialities within category Ⅰ correspond roughly to our corporate principles,"constructing buildings, creating towns, pioneering the new area," in that the first materiality concerns office buildings, the second concerns local communities, and the third involves consideration for the environment.
Formulation Process
- 1.Identify Potential Materiality
Select social issues highly relevant to business, making reference to the 169 targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board [SASB), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and other international guidelines. - 2.Assess Importance
After identifying an issue, discuss the issue in terms of expectations from society, the Daibiru Group's business model, its impact on business, its re levance, and magnitude of risk, doing so via dialogues with stakeholders inside and outside the Company, and then create a proposal for the issue in terms of materiality. - 3.Assess Validity
The Environment & Sustainability Committee confirms the validity of the materiality proposal. [The committee chair is the deputy officer responsible for the Corporate Planning Department, and the vice chair is the officer responsible for the Construction & Technical Management Department.] - 4.Determine Materiality
After deliberation and approval of the materiality proposal by the Executive Committee, its decision is confirmed by the Board of Directors.
