Section 5. Harmonious Coexistence with Society

6. Environmental Initiatives

The Daibiru Group has established six action plans as part of the Group Environmental Policy: harmonious coexistence with the environment, contributing to the prevention of global warming and the creation of a recycling-oriented society, the development of systems for environmental conservation, raising awareness of environmental conservation, cooperation with stakeholders, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations. The company is also cooperating with a wide variety of customers, local communities, business partners, and other stakeholders to promote urban development with rich greenery and harmonious coexistence with nature.

The Daibiru Group’s environmental initiatives include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing energy consumption, reusing and conserving water resources, and reducing waste and promoting recycling as part of the company’s efforts to combat global warming and contribute to the creation of a recycling-oriented society.

In response to climate change, the company is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption as well as to reuse and conserve water resources, to reduce waste, and to promote recycling through its business. Furthermore, green areas have been created on the premises of the Daibiru-Honkan Building, the Nakanoshima Daibiru Building, the Shin-Daibiru Building, and the Tosabori Daibiru Building in an effort to coexist harmoniously with nature.

In October 2021, in an effort to achieve a carbon-neutral society, Daibiru decided to adopt CO2-free electricity in all its buildings. If all buildings owned by Daibiru were to adopt CO2-free electricity, then 66 million kWh of electricity annually would be replaced with energy derived from renewable sources, reducing CO2 emissions by about 2.5 tons per year. Such systems were first introduced in December 2021 for the Daibiru-Honkan Building, Nakanoshima Daibiru Building, Shin-Daibiru Building, and Umeda Daibiru Building in Osaka, and in April 2022 for four buildings in the Tokyo area: the Hibiya Daibiru Building, Akihabara Daibiru Building, Toranomon Daibiru Building, and Aoyama Rise Square. Moreover, Daibiru has also introduced CO2-free electricity at its properties in Vietnam in order to reduce its environmental impact in its overseas business as well.
